In the midst of the summer of 2021, there's still a level of uncertainty regarding what Rotary will continue to provide those human connections Rotary members have valued in the past. While the adage of 'hands in faces will certainly continue to be a component of our routine it is apparent that the confidence building is evident and more face-to-face connections are happening. Rotary has changed. In the summer months of 2021 there's a lingering sense of uncertainty in how our social service includes the highly valued human connection experienced by Rotary members in previous times. The motto "hands-in-space" is certainly a component of our everyday routine, it is evident that confidence is growing as are the more direct connections. However, Rotary is changing. Rotary has evolved. We have sharpened up our methods of holding the business meetings online as well as reintroducing service and social activity using a friendly face-toface approach. The new possibilities are paired with our best pre-pandemic practices to create a new and exciting outlook for Rotary. A recent Rotary survey, it was encouraging to see that around 75% of clubs are making plans for their "business routine initiatives" The warmer months are full of members out and about focussing on various projects like river and beach cleans litter cleaning, and providing ongoing services to society from Rotary volunteer teams giving their time to support COVID vaccine and test centers. I am equally proud to see that Rotary Support Centre continues to provide valuable resources. Rotary Support Centre team continues to supply valuable information and resources that help promote these many initiatives and to ensure that the infrastructure is maintained to keep members and the public safe; compliance and insurance are essential. We are aware that volunteering with the help of Rotary creates lasting friendships built on the shared experience volunteering for the community's gain. The inventiveness and creativity of our members when it comes to finding solutions to some of the most difficult challenges is incredible and I am extremely happy that the chance to become a member of Rotary was offered to me back in 2002. Rotary also has provided me with an excellent group of people who have a similar outlook. I am extremely grateful for this.
